Five Thing to Expect From Bad Batch Season Three

On February 21 the broken and battered team of The Bad Batch returns for their third and final season on Disney+. As with its two predecessors, season three promises to have a bounty of twists, turns, and unexpected moments of both beauty and calamity. Although most of the season will be a surprise, here’s five surefire things audiences are bound to see by the series finale.

5-New Clone Dynamics

The reveal of Omega’s sister at the end of season two opened a proverbial Pandora’s box of storytelling potential. This is only the second born-female clone in Star Wars (the novels Queen’s Hope and Brotherhood feature a wonderful trans-female clone), which no longer isolates Omega as the only female clone. Knowing that Kaminoans only clone with a purpose, this means that sister and sister have a purpose beyond what fans are currently aware of; their dynamic and the story behind their creation could be the chisel that brings to shape the overarching story.

4-Omega and Crosshair Wrecking Shop

Surprisingly enough, the two most compelling characters of the series, Omega and Crosshair, have spent very little time together. In fact, Crosshair has never even said Omega’s name. That and more will have to change if they are going to make it out of Mount Tantiss alive. The two will have to work in unison and Crosshair is going to have to learn to trust “the kid.”

“The kid” is not the same person that Crosshair last spent time with at the end of season one. Omega has evolved from a dreamy-eyed, overzealous child looking for her belonging into a confident, capable, and commanding presence. She is not going to be afraid to take the lead, which is sure to take a veteran of war like Crosshair aback. The level to which he trusts her, and the speed with which he is able to do so, will determine both their future and the future of the squad as a whole.

3-The Return of Tech

Star Wars has a penchant for bringing characters back from the dead. Fans already know that season three of The Bad Batch will carry on that tradition by bringing Assaj Ventress back to screens after her death in the novel Dark Disciple. But will she be the only one make a return from the grave?

Not likely. Rather, Ventress’s return is more likely a precursor to the return of the assumed dead Tech. Her background as a Nightsister, along with their being brought back into the larger narrative in Ahsoka, points towards some sort of dark magick bringing Tech back to life.

Another possibility is that Tech himself doesn’t return, but a clone of him does. Impersonator Tech could then infiltrate The Bad Batch, gain their trust, and provide intel back to Dr. Hemlock. This would add layers and dimension to the story when Omega, Hunter, Wrecker, Echo and Crosshair have to look into the eyes of their “brother” as they decide whether or not to pull the trigger.

2- The Full Reunion

Whether it includes Real Tech or Impersonator Tech, at some point season three is bound to bring all six members of The Bad Batch to screen at the same time for the first time since the end of season one, when Crosshair decided to stay on Kamino rather than rejoin his brothers.

Crosshairs inevitable return could be pivotal for the team’s cohesiveness and effectiveness in their time of great neeed. It could bring the team closer together than ever before, although the more likely scenario is that it drives a wedge between them as they decide whether or not he is to be trusted. This is where Omega can step in and step up as a true leader within the team, bringing them together as she explains how Crosshair helped her escape Mount Tantiss.

1- Pain

Because this is what this show does. Because this is what Star Wars does.
